
Dennis Kwok
Dennis Tsz Kiu Kwok started learning saxophone at 6 and had studied with Mr. Martin Choi, MissJennifer To and Mr. Michael Campbell. He studied with leading saxophonist Dr. Kenneth Tse andgraduated with a Bachelor Degree in Music Performance at University of Iowa in 2016. He attended masterclasses and lessons by Connie Frigo, Julia Nolan, Masato Kumoi and Dragan Sremec. Dennis is also an active chamber musician and his local professional ensemble appearances include performances with the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia, Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, Diocesan Boys’ School Wind Band, Hong Kong Saxophone Ensemble, Hong Kong Youth Saxophone Choir, and Peninsula Quartet.
In March 2012, Dennis attended and performed in the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference in Arizona as a member of University of Iowa Saxophone Ensemble. In 2014, he recorded with the ensemble in the new album “Contemplation”. In July 2016, he also traveled to Hong Kong and Chengdu in China with the ensemble to perform. He was a recipient of the Meredith Wilson scholarship was awarded several Outstanding Jury Performance in saxophone in the university.
In January 2013, Dennis participated in the Young Artist Performance Competition held by Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) in Kansas and got advanced to the Regional Division as representative of Iowa state. In April 2013, he participated in the Regional North American Saxophone Alliance Conference in Minot and achieved honorable mentioned. In April 2013, he also participated in the 25 th Yamaha Young Performing Artist competition and was selected to be the Saxophone Winner. In October 2013, Dennis participated in the 6 th Adolphe Sax International Competition. He got advanced into the First Round and competed in Dinant, Belgium, in October 2014. He is currently pursuing Master Degree in Music Performance at the University of Iowa, under the tutelage of Dr. Kenneth Tse.
